Description
Summary:Extended Survivors Analysis was applied to the commercial catch-at-age data for Greenland Halibut in NAFO Subarea 2 and Div. 3KLMNO from 1975-2002 to assess the current status of the stock. The analysis was calibrated using Canadian and European Union research vessel survey data. The XSA model formulation was optimized in order to remove a retrospective bias in the estimated parameters. The exploitable stock biomass is estimated to be decreasing to the lowest level in the recorded time series, fishing mortality is increasing and is double the level of F0.1. The trends in stock biomass and level of exploitation are consistent with all additional sources of information from the commercial fishery and surveys.
