Description
Summary:We have developed a Monte Carlo generator, named ICESHOW, to simulate the behavior of particle showers in ice (with electromagnetic, hadronic and muonic components) produced by an incoming high energy neutrino, interacting with ice via W-exchange. The main purpose is to obtain quantitative information on sources of Cherenkov radiation that can be detected as signal (or noise) by the Antarctic Muon And Neutrino Detector Array (AMANDA). All basic features of the program are described. Results on transition curves for all components, as well as on the energy spectrum of muons are discussed. The modular structure of the program makes it easily convertible to different materials other than ice. Therefore, the ICESHOW Monte Carlo can also be applied to investigate some diverse sort of phenomena, such as the socalled "Glashow Resonance" (6.4 PeV neutrinos) and the "Long Flying Component" observed in high-energy cosmic-ray showers.
