Description
Summary:This contribution documents a first attempt to construct an ecosystem model for the marine ecosystem of Iceland in 1950 based on a present-day (i.e., 1997) model of the same area, and adopting the same structure and species composition. The catch data were adapted from the Sea Around Us project catch database, with discarding and unreported catch explicitly accounted for. Comparison of model prediction with reference time series data for two important species in the fisheries was also carried out, and indicated good correspondence between model predictions and times series data.
