| Summary: | iPREFACE The research presented in this thesis was carried out at the Division of Mining and Geotechnical Engineering at Luleå University of Technology. It was performed during the years 2003-2006, under the supervision of Professor Erling Nordlund. The financial support for the project has been provided by SveBeFo, SBUF and Banverket. First of all I would like to thank Prof. Erling Nordlund for giving me the chance to do this work here at the university and for making time for me in his tight schedule.
