Description
Summary:In this paper the Finnish ENVISAT CAL/VALproject as well as some results obtained in the project will be presented. The project has three major objectives. One objective is to implement an operational data processing chain, the other is to analyze the effect of different ice properties on the SAR signature and its statistics mainly through empirical backscatter studies, and the third is to develop an automated image interpretation system for sea ice mapping.
