Summary: | This study is devoted to low-frequency variations of oceanographic and meteorological characteristics in the Sea of Okhotsk. Time series of sea ice extent, air temperature at the meteorological stations around the Sea, South Oscillation Index (SOI), North Pacific Index (NPI), and of frequency of occurrence for certain meteorological situations were subjected to correlation and spectral analyses. Monthly and seasonal (winter and summer) mean time series were considered for the periods of 40 years and more. Both 3-month (December–February and June–August) and 5-month (November–March and May–September) averaging was used to compose the seasonal time series. In a few cases, averaging was performed for |
