Surface Heat and Water Vapour Budgets over Antarctica

Measurements of surface layer profiles of blowing snow density, wind speed, air temperature and humidity from the 2nd STable Antarctic Boundary Layer Experiment (STABLE2) are analysed. The experiment took place between March and November of 1991 at Halley research base (75.5 ffi S, 26.4 ffi W). Turb...

Description
Summary:Measurements of surface layer profiles of blowing snow density, wind speed, air temperature and humidity from the 2nd STable Antarctic Boundary Layer Experiment (STABLE2) are analysed. The experiment took place between March and November of 1991 at Halley research base (75.5 ffi S, 26.4 ffi W). Turbulent fluxes of heat and water vapour during blowing snow and the process of blowing snow sublimation are studied in depth.
