The views and opinions of authors expressed herein do not necessarily state or reflect those of the United States Government or any agency thereof. iii SUMMARY The purpose of this ongoing study is to establish sediment lithology and quantification of methane in hydrates hosted in sediments from marine sites of methane hydrate occurrence. For the reporting period of May 2007 to May 2008, our focus was on
