Summary:Harassment Authorization (IHA) under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. This authorization allows harassment of mall numbas of marine mammals incidental to conducting seabird and pinniped research operations on Southeast Fmallon Island, M o Nuevo Island, and Point Reyes Natiod Seashore in central California Marine mammals species that wuld be potentially imp& & by these activities inelude the Califomia stocks of northern elephant seal (Mimunga angusdirostris), harbor seal (Phoea vitetlina riehardiz7, S teller sea lion (Eumetopias jsrbahs), and California sea lion (2hlophulr californiannas). Our current IHA expires on December 11,2009. We would like to renew this authorization for mother year. All actions are the same at all sites as documented in our ment HA. We are requesting the same level of take for all species, with the exception of California Sea Lions (GASL) on Southeast Faralbn Island (SEFI). We are requesting an increase in our take of CASL on SEFI from the current Ievel of 1,500 animals to 5000 animals. We base his request on two primary reasons.
