Description
Summary:The average citizen’s age is increasing. With this, age-related healthcare is becoming a significant problem both from a humane and economical sight of view. easyADL is a project which has a goal to develop a ”cognitive prosthesis” to facilitate the everyday life activities for individuals suffering from the dementia disease. This master thesis, as a part of the easyADL project, investigates how the user interface towards this cognitive prosthesis should mediate information to the human actor. Our goal was to develop a prototype of the user interface and find the answers to what, how and when information should be mediated. To do this several areas have been studied, including dementia, aging, guidelines of how to design towards people with dementia and aging, which platform to use, which modalities to use and how the system should be designed. Based on this a prototype of the user interface was developed. The prototype can detect six states that the user can be in. The prototype was evaluated by personnel at the Department of Geriatrics at the University Hospital of Northern Sweden. The
