Summary:The satellite climate monitoring programme SAT-KLIM of the German Meteorological Service (=Deutscher Wetterdienst = DWD) will start to be operational in the year 2004. The general climate monitoring concept of this programme in the beginning is the comparison of monthly means for an area covering Europe and the North Atlantic with a corresponding long-term climatology (reference climatology) for the period 1971-2000 in a spatial resolution of at least 0.25 in latitude/longitude.
