Description
Summary:Abstract A survey was conducted on commercial and wild rodents from different location in Wadi Hanifah (Hanifah Valley) in Riyadh City. Six species of rodents were collected with wire net cage traps baited with fresh cucumber or cheese. The trapped rodents in descending order were Rattus rattus rattus, Acomys dimidiatus, Meriones libycus, R. rattus frugivorous, R. rattus alexandrinus and Mus musculus. The ectoparasites were a flea specie Xenopsyllus sp. on R. rattus alexandrinus and one tick specie Rhipicephalus turanicus found on Acomys dimidiatus and R. rattus frugivorus. In general, rodents and ectoparasites were low in Wadi Hanifah probably due to the sever hot and dry weather especially in the summer season.
