Description
Summary:The article examines the meaning of the Sami Parliament in Sweden from the perspective of the self‑determination discourse. The Sami Parliament is believed to be the most important political institution for contemporary Sami society. The creation of the Sami Parliament was a fundamental step for this society be‑ cause it increased Sami minority influence. What is more, Sami people are the only minority in Sweden which has its own representative body. The author of the article analyses how this institution works as a part of the Swedish political system and in comparison to other similar institutions. The aim is to predict Sami Parliament’s possible ways of development and its future role within Sami society’s right to self‑determination. Arkadiusz Nyzio
