Description
Summary:In the story we made about the expedition of the famous Nordinskiold in the polar seas, in At some point we said that the wise naturist during his return trip he found on the island of Behring bones of a sea cow, which in At that time it was named “stellere”, in honor the man who first told of the existence of this strange animal. Steller's sea cow, according to Nordinskiold, completely disappeared from the face of the earth, and it is said that the last of its kind would have been exterminated in 1768, this if we give the reason to the data of the famous academicians von Bae et von Brandt, of course. Nordinskiold's letters and the writings of the Journal des Voyages were read by one of our compatriots, who kindly sent the lengthy letter that comes from some part of Honduras, somewhere in a territory located between 15º and 16º degrees of latitude.
