Inspector Alexander Eames is the commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the outpost at Fort McPherson. Eames fought in World War 1 and was hailed as a hero on his return to Canada. Unable to cope with life and his role as hero, Alexander requested a transfer to the Canadian wilderness to live out the rest of his days in anonymity. Alexander is once again thrust into the headlines when he must lead a manhunt against an almost super-human trapper who has shot one of his men.
