| Summary: | The author has analyzed the articles by Achim von Arnim and Jan Czaczot on folk song tradition, stressing their romantic striving to bridge the gap between the educated and uneducated parts of the society through art, to consolidate different segments of the national culture into one powerful stream. The article clarifies similarities and differences in the approach to folk poetry in «The Boy‟s Magic Horn» by A. von Arnim and C. Brentano, and «Peasant Songs from the Upper Reaches of the Neman and the Dvina» by Jan Czaczot. The influence of Romanticism on Czaczot‟s studies of the Belarusian («sławiano-krewicką») language is determined.
