Description
Summary:Reproduction rattle depicting Gunarhnesemgyet riding the Killer Whale. CC: "Traded for 2 Phillipine swords. Trade conducted by Bernard Brown, Milwaukee, Wis. 1961, with dealer in Seattle, Washington. One sword from Logan Museum oriental weapon collection. Other sword purchased by B. Brown in Milwaukee to complete the trade. "This rattle was made by Gene Zema, a Seattle architect and collector of Japanese swords. He asked me to paint it and I did. I wrote the information as to the maker on the inside of the rattle. It may still be there" (Bill Holm, May 13, 1977). The original of this rattle is in the National Museum of Canada. I was collected in 1799 and illustrates Gunarhnesemgyet riding the Killer Whale."
