FACTS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS *The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' count for all newspaper jobs - from reporter to delivery truck driver - shows the payroll shrinking from 336,000 at the start of the year to 313,000 through October, a drop of 22,400 positions. From 2000-2007, both Asians and Latinos were the only groups not only with double-digit growth rates, but with growth rates of 26 percent and 29 percent respectively. During the same time period, the total population grew by 7 percent, the African American population by 9 percent, American Indians by 8 percent, and non-Hispanic whites by 2 percent. (REF Q125.C576 2010) DATABASE DATA NBC News Archive has it all - video clips, historic films, primary source documents, images, and mini-documentaries. Whether you are looking to enhance a class discussion, select a topic for a paper or presentation, or embed a video into a PowerPoint presentation, this resource can be your best friend. This database is extremely user-friendly. Just type your search word into the box in the upper right corner of the home page. Your results will be displayed in a thumbnail view and you can sort your results by Title, Event Date, Air/Publish Date, Type, or Search Relevance, in either ascending or descending order. To watch a video, simply click on the video screen and the "Cue Card" will appear. To view the video in full screen, click on the box in the right corner. Revert back to the smaller view by hitting "Esc" on your keyboard. Select "Flip" to view more details about the video. To view the transcripts, select the "Transcript" from the right side of the cue card. Take a look at NBC News Archives next time you need a video or other media for a class discussion or paper; it is a fun and educational way to enhance your topic.
