| Summary: | TO THE RIGHT OF THE LINE We seem to be traveling a dangerously fine line between using our institution as a pure market resource to be sold at the best possible price and being a true not-for-profit educational source for the community. This is always a concern for faculty and many of my peers often wonder if we have put aside educational integrity for profit. This sounds harsh, but it is a question that is often asked in the most prestigious institutions and newspapers. We should be able to ask it of ourselves. Mr. President, what are we doing to insure that we are not only a surviving business operation, but a worthy educational resource for our community? GOING FOR THE NICHE It seems that the university has a tendancy to generalize our marketing strategy, regardless of the program. Since many educational venues have shown that higher education must become specialized to survive, wouldn't it make sense for us to target the markets we are most skilled at servicing? For example, are we projecting and advancing BU's capabilities in health care to health care specialists in health care organizations or are we hoping they listen to a particular radio station?
