Summary: | Mrs. Monson tells of her experiences of living at the Calling River Telegraph Station with her husband, Mr. George T. Monson. Mr. Monson was both the telegraph operator at the station from 1924 - 1945, as well as post master; the telegraph station also acted as the local post office. Mrs. Monson married and then joined him and his three daughters from a previous marriage, at the station in 1934. She and George had two more daughters while living at the station. All five children were raised and schooled at the station by Mrs. Monson. Mrs. Monson remembers fondly the "good fellowship amongst the people living in the area between Athabasca and Fort McMurray." 2 pages |
