Summary:Background: Esophageal cancer is a relatively rare form of cancer, but some world areas have a markedly higher incidence than others: China, Iceland, India and Japan, as well as the United Kingdom, appear to have a higher incidence, as well as the region around the Caspian Sea. There are various subtype primerly adenocarcinoma (approx 50-80% of all esophageal cancer) and squamous cell cancer. Liver cancer is the sixth most common cancer worldwide. Liver cancer accounts for 5.6% of all cancer in human. Liver cancer is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The hepatocellular carcinoma (HLL) is the most common malignant primary liver cancer, which represent 75-90% of liver cancers worldwide. Gastric cancer is a major public health issue as the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of death worldwide. Gastric cancer is particularly common in Asia, Eastern Europe, and in South America. The gastric adenocarcinoma is the most common subtype of gastric cancer. In Iran especially Ardabil province, Esophageal and Gastric cancers is the most frequently diagnosed form of cancer. Ecballium Elaterium also called the Squirting cucumber or exploding cucumber is a medicinal plant in the cucumber family. It is native to Europe, northern Africa, and temperate areas of Asia. Ecballium Elaterium has been used as a medical plant. The juice of the fruit is antirheumatic, cardiac and purgative. The plant used internally in the treatment of oedema associated with kidney complaints, heart problems, rheumatism, paralysis and shingles. Externally it has been used to treat sinusitis and painful joints. Because of curative properties of this plant we investigated cytotoxic effects of this plant on these cancers.
