Summary:History: Alpine Club Hut was also known as the Wheeler Hut, the building was officially opened at the annual camp of the Alpine Club of Canada on July 17, 1947. The hut was named in honour of A.O. Wheeler, who led the geographical survey of the Selkirk Range in the early 1900s for the Government of Canada. His two-volume publication, "The Selkirk Range" provides valuable geographical and historical information on this region. A.O. Wheeler was one of the founders of the Alpine Club of Canada in 1905.
