Summary:This online archive of historic government gazettes provides access to over 160 years of official information published in and about Victoria. It contains images of every relevant page in the Victoria Government Gazette produced since 1836, as well as searchable indexes for each publication. First published in the earliest days of the colony, the Victoria Government Gazette (1836 to 1997) documents the official notifications of government decisions and legal actions to other governments, government agencies and the general public. This significant and highly used historical information resource contains vast amounts of information about people and places in Victoria as well as the workings of government including mining, water supply, companies, contracts, shire boundaries and government employment. The VGG comprises: New South Wales Government Gazette 1836 to 1851 Port Phillip Government Notices January to July 1843 Port Phillip Government Gazette January 1844 to July 1851 Victoria Government Gazette July 1851 to 1997 A collaborative project between the State Library of Victoria, Land Victoria, Department of Sustainability and Environment and the Chief Parliamentary Counsel.
