Description
Summary:Collection of model output data for the Consortium for Ocean-Sea Ice Modelling in Australia (COSIMA). COSIMA is comprised of a number of university nodes (ANU, UNSW, UTas, UAdelaide) and the major publicly-funded research agencies (Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Antarctic Division and the CSIRO). We are strongly supported by the National Computational Infrastructure and the Australian Research Council. COSIMA goal is to develop ocean and sea ice model configurations. Models list: ACCESS is the Australian community climate model. The ocean model components of ACCESS include MOM5.1, with the CICE5 sea ice model and OASIS-MCT coupling. ACCESS-OM2 is designed to be consistent with the full coupled version of ACCESS (to be released shortly as ACCESS-CM2). COSIMA supports ACCESS-OM2 at three resolutions: the standard 1° resolution, and the higher 0.25° and 0.1° resolutions. Each resolution is defined at the Equator, with a tripolar grid in the north and Mercator projection down to 65°S. The entire ACCESS-OM2 suite is available from our OceansAus GitHub repository (currently still in pre-release mode). Details of each model are listed below. ACCESS-OM2 ACCESS-OM2 is the moniker used to describe the suite of ACCESS Ocean Models, as well as to specifically refer to the default 1° model version. ACCESS-OM2 is comprised of MOM5.1, with the CICE5 sea ice model and OASIS-MCT coupling. It is designed to be consistent with the full coupled version of ACCESS (to be released shortly as ACCESS-CM2). The model lateral resolution is 1° at the Equator, with a tripolar grid in the north and Mercator projection down to 65°S. It has 50 vertical levels. The model is configured to run with both the CORE and JRA55-do forcing datasets. ACCESS-OM2-025 ACCESS-OM2-025 is COSIMA’s 1/4° ocean-sea ice model and is currently in the final stages of testing. It uses the MOM5.1 ocean with 0.25° lateral resolution at the Equator, tripolar in the north and Mercator projection down to 65°S, with 50 vertical levels. The sea ice model is CICE5.1, coupled with the OASIS3-MCT coupler. The model is forced with the JRA55-do v1.3 forcing dataset. ACCESS-OM2-01 ACCESS-OM2-01 is currently being prepared as the flagship Australian high-resolution ocean-sea ice model. It uses the MOM5.1 ocean with 0.1° lateral resolution at the Equator, tripolar in the north and Mercator projection down to 65°S, with 75 vertical levels. The sea ice model is CICE5.1, coupled with the OASIS3-MCT coupler. The model is forced with the JRA55-do v1.3 forcing dataset.
