Oxygen Isotope Results From Sites Along Mirny-Dome C Traverse, 1983/84

During the 1983/84 Russian traverse from Mirny to Dome C, numerous snow samples were taken for later deuterium-excess analysis. 73 samples were taken from 25 sites along the traverse route. Snow was collected via a 1200mm long metal tube pushed into the snow, with the contents of the tube them place...

Description
Summary:During the 1983/84 Russian traverse from Mirny to Dome C, numerous snow samples were taken for later deuterium-excess analysis. 73 samples were taken from 25 sites along the traverse route. Snow was collected via a 1200mm long metal tube pushed into the snow, with the contents of the tube them placed into a large glass jar. Enough snow was taken to almost fill the 2 liter jar. The snow was then allowed to melt in the traverse van, and a small sample bottle of the resulting water then taken for later analysis. Analysis was performed by Laboratoire de Geochimie Isotopique. These documents have been archived in the records store at the Australian Antarctic Division.
