terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of 16S rRNA and alkane-monooxygenase genes in Macquarie Island Soils

Samples were collected on Macquarie Island from three sites: the main powerhouse, the fuel farm and a reference site on the isthmus. The microbial communities in these samples were analysed by terminal-restriction fragment length polymorphism of both the 16S rRNA and alkane mono-oxygenase genes. The...

Description
Summary:Samples were collected on Macquarie Island from three sites: the main powerhouse, the fuel farm and a reference site on the isthmus. The microbial communities in these samples were analysed by terminal-restriction fragment length polymorphism of both the 16S rRNA and alkane mono-oxygenase genes. The data consists of two excel files, one containing the 16S rRNA gene information and one containing the alkane mono-oxygenase results. The first sheet in each workbook contains experimental procedure details. The data itself consists of a matrix of terminal restriction fragment (tRF) size (in basepairs) by sample containing the percentage peak area of each tRF. This work was carried out as part of AAS project 2672.
