Description
Summary:The Australian Antarctic Division carried out a traverse from Davis station in the spring of 1970, following the "SG" line of stakes. Two banks of aircraft altimeters, supplemented by three Surveyors Aneroids (T. Wheeler), were used for heighting bamboo trail marking stakes (installed at 1.5 mile intervals), strain grids, and any prominent topographical features. Detailed notes on the observations, method used, and corrections applied to account for pressure changes due to climatic conditions. Records for this work have been archived at the Australian Antarctic Division.
