Description
Summary:A number of moderate halophiles tolerating 10-15% salt, and extreme halophiles tolerating 22% salt were isolated from soils of the Vestfold Hills. The extreme halophiles were identified as Halomonas and Halobacterium. A number of moderate halophiles were biochemically characterised, but this work was not published, being overtaken by better molecular methods for such studies.
