Description
Summary:Ice Sheet Balance Flux computer code BalanceV2.f Fortran computer source code. This program computes the ice fluxes and optionally the ice velocities that would maintain an ice sheet of specified shape (surface elevation) in equilibrium with a prescribed ice accumulation distribution. Inputs: regular orthogonal gridded datasets of ice sheet surface elevation, ice accumulation, and (for velocities) ice sheet thickness. The model provides a variety of output fields - including component ice fluxes on a staggered grid, and the magnitude and direction of the ice flux vector field. This program (Balance Version 2) was written by Roland Warner at the Cooperative Research Centre for Antarctic and Southern Ocean Environment (Antarctic CRC) University of Tasmania, Hobart AUSTRALIA. It implements a variant of the balance flux schemes described in 'A computer scheme for rapid calculations of balance-flux distributions' by W. F. Budd and R. C. Warner, Annals of Glaciology, 23, 21-27. 1996. The specific algorithm is described in more detail in FRICKER, H.A., WARNER R., and ALLISON I. - Mass balance of the Lambert Glacier - Amery Ice Shelf system, East Antarctica: a comparison of computed balance fluxes and measured fluxes, Journal of Glaciology, 46(155), 561-570, 2000.
