Description
Summary:Progress Code: onGoing Maintenance and Update Frequency: asNeeded Statement: Data source: Original field data. Data processing and quality control by Marine National Facility Data Acquisition and Processing Group (DAP). Credit CSIRO Fisheries, CSIRO Oceanography, CMAR, O&A and Marine National Facility (MNF). Credit ADCP data processed by the CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere (O&A) previously CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research (CMAR) Data Acquisition and Processing (DAP) Group. The O&A Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data set includes data collected during the voyages of Australia's Marine National Facility, and of various CSIRO marine research vessels. ADCP data consists of vertical current profiles binned at depth intervals of between 2 to 16 metres. The subset extracted for MARVL contains data on the continental shelf as defined by the 200 metre depth contour from the 2012 Bathymetric dataset merged (spatial union) with the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Australian Maritime Boundary dataset (http://www.ga.gov.au/metadata-gateway/metadata/record/gcat_63565) available from Geosciences Australia (GA). This subset of the data contains 77,693 ADCP profile records from 155 voyages and includes corrected U and V values at a centred binned depth and spans from 1995 to the present. The full data set is held in the O&A Information & Datacentre Data Warehouse, which currently holds over 387,181 ADCP profile records from more than 222 voyages collected since 1987. This data includes corrected U and V values at a centred binned depth. Individual metadata records have been created for each research voyage.
