Description
Summary:Maintenance and Update Frequency: unknown Statement: Data are numerical or categorical. Instruments used: SA commercial prawn trawl nets used for most data collection. Weights taken at sea using balanced scales. Temperature depth loggers. Data processing and conversion steps: Data are collected by independent observers and skippers of the prawn survey vessels. Data are entered into the Oracle database by SARDI information statistics team. Temperature depth loggers are downloaded directly to MS excel files. Temporal extent: Fishery-independent surveys conducted regularly during February, April and November each year since 1982. Sample size: Prawns surveys are conducted at around 200 stations throughout the gulf on each survey occasion. Each trawl shot is generally 30 minutes duration and covers 1.5 - 2 nautical mile. Points on a map will represent sample sites. Funded through industry cost-recovery. For further information: refer to technical reports describing data collection and analysis (available with the permission of SARDI Aquatic Sciences on behalf of PIRSA Fisheries and the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries). Data custodian: South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Aquatic Sciences on behalf of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) Fisheries and the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries. Industry contribute financially and share ownership of the data. A data policy is currently being prepared by PIRSA Fishries and Aquaculture.
