Description
Summary:Data gaps over rocks and regions of high topographic relief (edges of Amery) and some data dropouts towards the ice front. Uses ERS altimeter waveform data from the European Space Agency satellite ERS-1 Phases E and F (168 day phases) ERS data were subject to several processing stages:i) Waveform filtering ii) merging of precise DELFT orbits iii) altmospheric and ionospheric corrections iv) retracking (using threshold retracker) v) slope correction (using relocation) vi) tide correction (using Beaver Lake Tidal Model). A comparison was carried out with the Amery Ice Shelf GPS data (LINK?) ERS altimeter crossover differences over the whole Lambert-Amery region had a mean of 0.09m and a SD of 1.99m. This would be reduced over the ice shelf. Digital Elevation Model of the Amery Ice Shelf derived from ERS satellite radar altimetry elevation data. Generated on a 1-km polar stereographic grid using kriging in four sections by Helen Amanda Phillips, Antarctic CRC/IASOS. Three files are available for download: Amery Ice Shelf DEM from satellite altimeter data version relative to WGS-84 ellipsoid, Amery Ice Shelf DEM from satellite altimeter data version relative to EGM96 geoid, A thickness dataset that was derived from the AIS-DEM. Each file constitutes 122,385 lines of data (+ 4 lines of header information). The fields in this dataset are: Latitude Longitude Geodial Height in metres above sea level (WGS-84 and EGM-96) Thickness
