Description
Summary:The 'Rules of Council' were the specific rules put into place by the governing body of the Riverina College of Advanced Education, the Council, which controlled all aspects of the College’s development and direction. The Rules themselves were derived directly from the College By-Laws and covered topics including: the power and authority of the Principal; the appointment, promotion and progression of staff; the academic progress of students; the maintenance and enforcement of good order of students within the college; the Chairman’s allowance; appeals by students; conditions of employment; appointments of praelectors and the election of members to Council; and other staff matters. Amendments and additions to the rules were issued regularly and staff were urged to keep a correct and up-to-date copy at all times. The series is arranged by the resolution number, which is an annual running number (eg. 74/9.75/53.76/129.etc). Each 'Rule of Council' lists the By-Law from which it was derived, the full title of the Rule, its resolution number, and the meeting number and date at which the resolution was passed. Each Rule has been signed by the Chairman of the Council, the Principal and the Secretary of the College, and the common seal of the College has also been attached. The Rule is then reproduced in its entirety on the following pages.
