Description
Summary:Sample collection: All soils were collected in 2005 and stored at -80˚C prior to gDNA extraction using the FastDNA SPIN kit for soil (MP Biomedicals, NSW, Australia). Three soil samples were obtained from Mitchell Peninsula (66°31'S, 110°59'E) and three were obtained from Browning Peninsula (66°27'S, 110°32'E). Samples from both sites were selected along a transect, with specific information provided below. Metagenome sequencing and assembly: Metagenomic shotgun libraries were prepared from community gDNA extractions using the Nextera DNA Flex Library Prep Kit (Illumina Inc.). Sequencing was performed on an Illumina NextSeq500 platform with 2×150bp base pair high output run chemistry and 5GB coverage per sample.
