Description
Summary:This dataset is the best available public pelagic seabird GIS shapefile dataset on the presence and 'expert-derived' absence, available in February 2010, for Dovekies (Alle alle; taxonomic serial number 176982). This data set will get outdated once new data comes available online. The database includes year-round data but has the highest number of data points for summer. It consists as an ESRI ArcGIS 9.3. shapefile in a stereographic Northpole projection, and can be brought into ASCII format or similar. Original coordinates are provided as latitude longitude, decimal degrees. This data set is compiled from public (online) sources such as the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF; gbif.org) and similar datasets.More details are available from a manuscript by the authors, its methods and appendices This dataset is part of a study which model-predicted 27 circumpolar seabird species, and therefore it also includes 30 environmental correlates from GIS overlays, and as needed for predictive GIS modeling; for details please see manuscript by the authors.
