Summary: | This dataset includes physical and chemical parameters in the water column of Lake 578 (61.08° North, 45.61° West), southern Greenland. In order to validate the application of a relatively new paleothermometer (branched glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraether) in the Arctic, Lake 578 was selected as a suitable location, because human activity in the lake catchment today is minimal, and vegetation in the area is relatively stable. Therefore, the physical and chemical parameters of Lake 578 were investigated. Lake water temperature at 2.5 meters (m) (since summer 2017), 5 m, 7.5 m, 10 m, 12.5 m (since summer 2018), and 14 m depth with 6 hour resolution were measured with Onset HOBO UTBI-001 TidbiT temperature data loggers from summer 2016 to summer 2019. Temperature, specific conductivity, pH, and dissolved oxygen were measured with a Hydrolab MS5 in the summers of 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
