Summary: | Microzooplankton biomass as ugC/liter, and general community composition, were determined for the primary production profiles, from 1 to 38 m depth, at five stations in which a diatom bloom was repeatedly sampled. The microzooplankton biomass ranged from 14.3 to 99.8 ugC/liter in the upper 24 m, and was greatest at the station for which the highest chl-a (30-40 ug/liter) was recorded. Heterotrophic dinoflagellates composed from 40% to 93% of the total microzooplankton biomass, and protist cells greater than 40 um in longest dimension composed from 24% to 86% of total microzooplankton biomass. These data were collected aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy. |
