Description
Summary:Samples were collected in the bay of Kongsfjorden (Svalbard) in August 2007 and June 2008. Up to 8 stations located along a transect from a glacier towards the open sea were sampled weekly to examine temporal variation in microbial parameters. Abundances of bacteria and viruses were measured using flow cytometry and bacterial production was determined by 3H-leucine incorporation. Dark inorganic carbon fixation was also determined using H14CO3 incorporation. Inorganic and organic nutrients were determined from the same samples.
