Snow Melt Transect ARCSS grid Barrow, Alaska 2010

A 200 meter snow melt transect was chosen within the Arctic System Science (ARCSS) grid in Barrow, Alaska. ARCSS grid coordinates are labelled A thru K and 1 thru 11 for each N-S and E-W row of markers respectively. Transect begins 2 meters west of ARCSS grid point D09 and extends south ending 2 met...

Description
Summary:A 200 meter snow melt transect was chosen within the Arctic System Science (ARCSS) grid in Barrow, Alaska. ARCSS grid coordinates are labelled A thru K and 1 thru 11 for each N-S and E-W row of markers respectively. Transect begins 2 meters west of ARCSS grid point D09 and extends south ending 2 meters west of ARCSS grid point F09. Depth measurements were taken at every 2 meters along the transect on the east side of the transect to avoid any disturbances. The Systems Ecology Lab (SEL) long depth probe was used (orange tape on the handle). Data have been corrected by subtracting 3cm from measurements made in the field to account for the missing tip of the probe. Location of the snow melt transect was chosen using ArcGis tools.
