Description
Summary:Ice draft time series data were collected at NOAA/PMEL/EcoFOCI mooring station C2 on the 3-station Icy Cape line in the Chukchi Sea at 71.23 N latitude and 164.22 W longitude and 43 meters depth. Two data sets were collected using an upward-looking sonar IPS5 instrument (ASL Environmental Sciences) mounted near-bottom at an operating frequency of 420 kHz with a beam width of 1.8 degrees. Data records extend from October 1, 2017 to August 13, 2018, and August 15, 2018 to August 14, 2019. The first mooring was deployed from R/V Ocean Starr (OS1701, leg 1). Related CTD calibration cast c005 was processed by EcoFOCI. USCGC Healy (he1801) recovered and redeployed the mooring. Related CTD cast 033 was processed by R.Pickard group, WHOI. The second mooring was recovered by R/V Ocean Starr (OS1901, leg 1). Related CTD calibration casts 021, 022 & 032 were processed by the EcoFOCI group. Range data from sonar pings to the sea ice undersurface were collected every second, and on-board, near-bottom temperature and pressure data were collected every 2 minutes. These were converted and processed into ice draft values using Matlab-based proprietary software from ASL Environmental. Ice draft data were averaged to hourly statistics. Data files contain these columns: date, mean, median, minimum, maximum and standard deviation values. Files are readable comma-separated text.
