Description
Summary:These data are part of the AIES component of the Arctic Integrated Ecosystem Research Program (IERP), sponsored by the North Pacific Research Board (NPRB), Collaborative Alaskan Arctic Studies Program (formerly the North Slope Borough/Shell Baseline Studies Program), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), and the Office of Naval Research Marine Mammals and Biology Program. Ship-based surveys were conducted in the northern Bering, Chukchi and Beaufort Seas during following standard U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) strip-transect survey protocols. Seabird and marine mammal observations were conducted during daylight hours when the vessel was underway. The dlog survey files (.csv format) contain the observations of species, numbers, and behavior that were recorded during surveys, in addition to observations of environmental conditions.
