Determining bulk distribution of calling depths of bowhead and northern right whales using non-linear signal processing methods in the Beaufort Sea, 2010

Description
Summary:The project estimated depths at which bowhead whales made calls, using passive acoustic source data recorded from 2008-2010 at several geographic locations in the Beaufort Sea. Raw acoustic data used were collected by Greenridge Sciences using hydrophones. The Beaufort dataset contains whale calls recorded between August 10-October 10 each year from 2008-2014. The data files contain dates, times, and depths of whale calls, as well as range to closest instrument. The data files for this project include an input file (ASCII text file named ‘inp_file.env’) to the acoustic model that encodes parameters describing the acoustic propagation environment and an output file (ASCII text file named ‘‘Chapter3_inputs_and_outputs.txt’) that combines the inputs from the automated detector program with the final depth estimates from the entire procedure. This data was collected to determine bulk distrubution of calling depths of bowhead whales in the Beaufort Sea.
