Description
Summary:The Florida Current carries northward the western boundary flow of the wind-driven subtropical gyre circulation in the North Atlantic Ocean and the warm upper limb of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. Estimates of the Florida Current transport are carried out by NOAA/AOML using satellite altimetry data as a complimentary dataset to the in situ estimates that are obtained by the submarine telephone cable in the Florida Straits. These data are produced as part of a suite of key ocean indicators and indexes that are computed at AOML using hydrographic and satellite observations.
