Description
Summary:Within 1 year two generations of Sagitta elegans were found in Bedford Basin. The spring generation, reaching maturity in mid‐September, reproduced during the remainder of the year. The autumn generation, consisting of the offspring of the spring generation, appeared to overwinter and established the spring adult population. The temperature‐size relationship of S. elegans from Bedford Basin is in close agreement with McLaren’s curve for this species in the eastern Canadian Arctic. Net carbon production rate, calculated from the spring generation, was highest in mid‐September when the majority of the population approached maturity.
