Description
Summary:A key for the three closely rclatcd genera Aruphura, Arhapuroides and Tanaella is provided and the taxonomic differences are discusscd. For Araphura and Arhapuroides a key to the specics is also given, while for Tanuellu one is available elsewhere. Within Arhuphuroides , the taxonomic position of A. hrevispina is discussed and A. septentrionalis sp.n. is described. Within Araphura , the analysis of the postmarsupial stages in A. higginsi sp.n. indicates a saltatorial growth of the pereaeonites from neuters to females. Therefore, the shape of the pars molaris and the structures of uropods are the main taxonomically useful characters. The second species described as new in the genus, A. joubinensis sp.n. has formerly been recorded as A. brevimanus from Antarctic waters. Finally, based on material from Great Britain, a redescription of the type species, A. brevimanus , is presented.
