Evidence for phylogeographically informative sequence variation in the mitochondrial control region of Atlantic brown trout

Complete sequencing of the mitochondrial control region was undertaken among brown trout Salmo trutta from North Atlantic areas where previous studies, based on smaller mtDNA fragments, failed to detect any phylogeographic signal. Comparison of sequences suggests that brown trout in the Iberian Peni...

Description
Summary:Complete sequencing of the mitochondrial control region was undertaken among brown trout Salmo trutta from North Atlantic areas where previous studies, based on smaller mtDNA fragments, failed to detect any phylogeographic signal. Comparison of sequences suggests that brown trout in the Iberian Peninsula and Scandinavia belong to largely divergent evolutionary units.
