Early functional maturity of captive male northern elephant seals ( Mirounga angustirostris)

Abstract A male northern elephant seal ( Mirounga angustirostris ) that was conceived in captivity was stillborn February 14, 1981, at Mystic Marinelife Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut. Either of two males in the exhibit could have sired the pup. Both were only 3 yr at the time of conception.
