The support at the portal consists of a reinforced concrete beam, prestressed anchors 25 to 35 m long and 9 m long rock bolts (see report on page 627). Für das Pumpspeicherkraftwerk Nant De Drance wurde in 2009 der Zugangstunnel Châtelard aufgefahren. Das Portal stellte hohe Ansprüche an Planer und Unternehmer, da die Bahnverbindung Martigny‐Chamonix mit weniger als 3 m Abstand zur Kalotte unterfahren werden musste. Die Sicherung im Portalbereich besteht aus einem Stahlbetonbalken, 25 bis 35 m langen Vorspannankern und 9 m langen Felsnägeln (siehe Bericht auf Seite 627).
