Abstract New taxa of the sections Anserina , Niveae , Pensylvanicae and Rectae from New Guinea, China, Mongolia, Iran, Transcaucasia, Central Asia, India and Greenland are described. Three varieties described from Malesia are elevated to the rank of species and three species occurring in Kashmir (and vicinity) and China (Yunnan and vicinity) are re‐evaluated as varieties. Potentilla arbuscula var. unifoliolata (Bhutan) is treated as a distinct species of Dasiphora .
