Description
Summary:Glu.ta.mi.ci.bac'ter. N.L. n. acidum glutamicum glutamic acid; N.L. masc. n. bacter a rod; N.L. masc, n. Glutamicibacter glutamic acid rod, referring to the presence of glutamic acid in the peptidoglycan interpeptide bridge. Actinobacteria / Actinobacteria / Micrococcales / Micrococcaceae / Glutamicibacter The genus Glutamicibacter contains the species Glutamicibacter protophormiae, Glutamicibacter ardleyensis, Glutamicibacter arilaitensis, Glutamicibacter bergerei, Glutamicibacter creatinolyticus, Glutamicibacter halophytocola, Glutamicibacter mysorens, Glutamicibacter nicotianae, Glutamicibacter soli, and Glutamicibacter uratoxydans . Cells are rod shaped when growing exponentially and are coccoid when reaching the stationary growth phase. The species of this genus share high 16S rRNA similarities (>96.9%). The peptidoglycan type is A4α (Lys–Ala–Glu; A11.35; https://www.dsmz.de/?id=449 ). The quinone system contains menaquinone MK‐8 and/or MK‐9 as major components. Major polar lipids are diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and dimannosylglyceride. Except G. halophytocola , phosphatidylinositol is absent. Major fatty acid is anteiso‐C 15:0 . High amounts of iso‐C 15:0 , iso‐C 16:0 , anteiso‐C 17:0 , iso‐C 14:0 , and C 16:0 may also be present. Representatives of the genus have been isolated from soil, wastewater reservoir sediment, sewage, Antarctic lake sediment, surfaces of cheeses, human urine, roots of Limonium sinense , and the fly Protophormia terraenovae . DNA G + C content (mol%) : 55–67. Type species : Glutamicibacter protophormiae (Stackebrandt, Fowler, Fiedler and Seiler 1984) Busse 2016, 28 VP ( Arthrobacter protophormiae , Stackebrandt, Fowler, Fiedler and Seiler 1984, 270).
